Joel Mchale: People’s Choice Award 2017 Host
peopleschoice.com: Joel McHale has a great new adventure ahead of him.
The Great Indoors star has just been announced as the host of People’s Choice Awards 2017!
McHale, who plays an adventure reporter on his new CBS sitcom, will helm the live broadcast honoring fan favorites in movies, music, TV and digital from the Microsoft Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
In a statement to People’s Choice, McHale gave a special shoutout to CBS boss Les Moonves.
“The people have spoken, and they want Jimmy Kimmel to host the 2017 Oscars! And the people have also spoken, and said that it would be okay if I hosted the 2017 People’s Choice Awards,” McHale joked. “Well, one person said that. Luckily, that person was Les Moonves, so no one questioned it.”
“Okay” might be a bit of an understatement. Fans aren’t the only ones excited to see McHale take the reigns on the big night. Mark Burnett, who will be returning to executive produce the awards, described the actor as the “perfect host.” “Joel is a brilliant comedic talent, and the perfect host for this show,” said Burnett. “He is a triple threat. An actor, a writer and a performer, and we look forward to him bringing all those amazing talents to the 2017 People’s Choice Awards.”
With credits including NBC’s Community and E!’s The Soup, there’s no question McHale will be bringing his comedy chops to the People’s Choice Awards stage — but before that, there’s some serious business to attend to.
Then, make sure to tune in to People’s Choice Awards 2017 on Wednesday, Jan. 18 to find out who gets to walk away with a trophy!
