Dubai Sports Council Completes Preparation for 'Beach Games Festival'

Mediaoffice.ae: Dubai Sports Council has completed preparations for the launch of the “Beach Games Festival”, the first of its kind, which is scheduled from 20th Oct. to 6th Nov. 2022 at the Kite Beach in Umm Suqeim. 

The Beach Games Festival comprises two international championships, to be held with participation of the strongest teams & national teams in the world, in addition to several other beach events and competitions. 

Top on the list of the Beach Games Festival is the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, which will be organized by Dubai Sports Council for the 11th successive year in collaboration with the FIFA’s Beach Soccer Committee. Other eminent events, to be arranged as part of this Festival, are the World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour and the Badminton Championship besides other distinctive beach events taking place at the sub-pitches, which are accompanying to the main stadium of the Championship.

Construction works have been completed in the main stadium accommodating 3000 seats, sub-pitches accommodating 200 seats, dressing rooms, referees’ room, besides rooms of the delegates of FIFA & International Volleyball Federation, training pitches and the Fans’ Village.

The Festival will commence on Thursday 20th Oct. 2022 with the yoga & badminton events. The media tour for the Beach Volleyball Championship will be held Friday 21st Oct. including a press conference to present the most eminent teams participating in the Championship. Entertaining events will be arranged for media representatives & fans in the presence of the Brazilian volleyball legend, Gilberto Amauray D Godoy Philo, who is known as (Jiba). Media persons & fans will also catch this opportunity to conduct interviews with several players from UAE, USA, Canada and Qatar. 

The World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour will take place in the Emirate of Dubai from Saturday 22nd Oct. to Sunday 30th Oct. with participation of 192 male & female players representing 96 teams from 25 States from the various continents of the world who will play 266 matches. The Championship will be organized by the International Volleyball Federation with the support of Dubai Sports Council and in collaboration with the Emirates Volleyball Association.

The 11th Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup is scheduled from 1st to 6th Nov. 2022 at the Kite Beach in Umm Suqeim with participation of the best eight national teams in the world. Four matches are scheduled on the first day of the Championship (1st Nov. 2022) as follows: USA will play vs. Japan at 04:00 pm / UAE vs. Spanish counterpart at 05:15 pm / Saudi Arabia vs. Brazil at 06:45 pm / Paraguay vs. Iran at 08:00 pm.

Entry is free for fans throughout the Festival days, so that they can enjoy watching the distinctive performance of the strongest world teams in the Beach Volleyball Championship and the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup. Fans will also catch this opportunity to participate in entertaining events to be held as part of the Festival at the sub-pitches, in addition to children’s games & food trucks at the Championship’s Village besides several other entertaining events.
